According to a survey conducted by China Education Statistics, we calculated and found that there are around 8 million poor students in mainland China. Most of them are located in the poverty-stricken regions, in particular, the western area, and the most serious conditions are in primary schools. They have poor education facilities, even no classrooms, and students just have few worn-out clothes, let alone school uniforms. So, we encourage students and companies in Hong Kong to donate their second-hand or outdated uniforms or activity shirts to us. We classify clothes we received by color and pattern, wash them, package them and send them to those schools as school uniforms.
AS COURSE MATERIAL
Most secondary schools in Hong Kong offer a home economics course. There is a sewing part, which needs hand on experience. Nowadays, most schools ask students to buy new cloth to practice sewing, which is a kind of waste for green hands. After practicing, students throw away the new cloth which is unnecessary expenses. So, we select worn-out clothes and donate them to secondary schools as home economics class material. In this way, we make full use of your donated clothes and help students save money.
As practice material
People, especially students, who learned or love costume design but can’t afford the materials exist. So, we provide old clothes for them as practice material and help them keep on working at what they love. Besides, we also use received clothes in our second workshop every month (click and go into “workshops” page) as practice use.
If you have any suggestions on how to fully make use of the donated clothes, please send your plan or idea to our e-mail Clothesbankdevelpment@gmail.com. We truly appreciate your efforts.
